Mr. Makuakane is a Partner Member of the national ElderCare Matters Alliance, past-chair of the Probate & Estate Planning Section, the Elder Law Section, and the Estate & Gift Tax Committee of the Hawaii State Bar Association. He is also past president of the Christian Legal Society of Hawaii, past president of the Financial Planning Association of Hawaii, past President of the Board of Trustees of the Foundation of the Rotary Club of Honolulu, and is a Session elder at First Presbyterian Church of Honolulu at Ko`olau.

He has been married to the same wonderful woman for more than 30 years and is the proud father of two sons.
